Clement Greiner and Marcus Liebich have developed a novel application for AIR:  adding highly detailed textures to models for manufacturing.  Using Brian Perry’s RhinoMan plugin for Rhino they applied displacement shaders to a base model to add patterns.  Then they rendered the model with AIR and saved the displaced mesh to a file using AIR’s new geometry export capability.  The resulting detailed mesh file was imported back into Rhino and exported to an STL file for manufacture.  Visit www.structurate.com for more information.
